Vacationing in Kauai

Travel KauaiThe oldest and northernmost of the Hawaiian Islands is Kauai, a tropical garden paradise that has earned the nickname, the “Garden Isle.” Visitors can find themselves captivated by the unique and beautiful flora and forests that cover every inch of this island. With such immense splendor, you may never want to leave.
No matter where you stay on Kauai, you will always have access to the sea and sun, but the most popular places are the northern and southernmost shores of the island. The southern shore has many great beaches for sunning, swimming and snorkeling, with Poipu Beach being the most popular on this shore. More active and adrenaline inducing sports, head to Shipwreck Beach during the summer for great surf conditions.
While the North Shore is the quieter of the two, it is also home to some of the best beaches in the country. Hanalei Bay is one of these beaches, and can accommodate anything from snorkeling to surfing and sailing. Scenic walks are a great idea in this area, as you have the sparkling blue sea on one side and the majestic green mountains on the other. Tunnels Beach is another popular spot because of the reef tunnels that scuba divers like to explore for the unique marine life.
Once you’re done with the beach, be sure to head to one of the eight golf courses on this island. Three of Hawaii’s best golf courses can be found on Kauai, so enjoy a game and the beauty of Kauai at the same time. A Robert Trent Jones Jr. design, Poipu Bay Golf Course utilizes the ocean winds to make for a challenging game of golf. Kauai Lagoons was designed by Jack Nicklaus, where the natural terrain of the area creates a beautifully designed challenge for any expert.
The beauty of Kauai isn’t just there to look at, but explore. Hiking trails traverse every corner of this island, allowing visitors to explore anything that is inaccessible by road. The Kukui Trail takes visitors to the bottom of the Waimea Canyon. It begins off the Iliau Loop Trail, so you can get breathtaking views of the mountain as you head down, with a swimming hole at the bottom as a reward. Another trail is the Kuilau Ridge Trail that takes hikers past waterfalls and flora during its four mile trail.
Kauai has no shortage of activities for its guests, so be sure to pick lodging that is close to the activities you know you want to participate in. Take advantage of the beautiful forests and ocean views, and if you choose a rental, all the privacy you want in this island paradise. You can experience a wonderful Kauai vacation by using a rental that fills all your relaxation needs.
